King ” Anawarhta “, the founder of Bagan Dynasty is a magical hero in local legendary stories. The tale goes that he once was given a replica of the holy canine tooth of Lord Buddha from ri Lanka; he put this relic on his precious white elephant and let him go. The elephant rested at four places and later the king built a stupa on each of these resting places. Local pilgrims believe that if you pay homage at all 4 pagodas within one day, your wish will be full-filled.

Enjoy your tour visiting to Tu Yin Taung, There are 32 statues of elephants made in ratio to different directions at the base of the pagoda. It is an octagonal shaped designed platform on which the pagoda resides. Many years passed by but still the pagoda is maintained by time to time.

Shwezigon,built by King Anawrahta in the early 11th century as a religious shrine Lawka Nandar, It was erected on the bank of the Ayeyarwaddy River, and built during the reign of King Anawrahta. It contains a replica of a Buddha tooth relic and Tant Kyi Taung, Tantkyi Taung or the Tantkyi hill is located on the western side of Ayeyarwaddy river which falls on the other side of Bagan.

On the Tantkyi Hill lies a Pagoda and is known as the Tantkyi Taung Pagoda. The Tantkyi Taung Pagoda was built during A.D 1059 by King Anawrahta. King Vizaraba from Sri Lanka donated one of Buddha's tooth relic and King Anawrahta duplicated with another one and embedded in the sacred place inside this pagoda.
